Komm, Heiliger Geist | Come, Holy Spirit

Pfingsten (Pentecost) is a two day public holiday in Germany. There are many customs such as das Pfingstbaumpflanzen (the planting of the Pentecost tree) and der Pfingstenkranz (the Pentecost wreath) used to celebrate this feast.

Johann Sebastian Bach’s Also hat Gott die Welt geliebt (God so loved the world) was originally performed during Pentecost celebrations in 1725. German composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Veni Sancte Spiritus (Come, Holy Spirit), although not in German, is another liturgically appropriate composition from the same period.
