Pentecost is when Christians celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church. At Pentecost, the Spirit caused the disciples to speak in other tongues and all those gathered to hear the Gospel in their own language. At Pentecost God reaffirmed God’s desire to be known by and through every culture.
That is still God’s desire. Many of us will take part in Thy Kingdom Come global prayer movement. As we welcome, wait and watch for the Kingdom we cry “Come Holy Spirit!”
This resource is intended to help us celebrate being part of the global church; and to remind us of God’s mission to and from every part of the world. It includes ideas for celebrating Pentecost and worship resources in numerous languages.
As we celebrate Pentecost, let us call on God to empower us with the Holy Spirit so that not only may we know His power and transformation in our lives, but also that many more will hear the Gospel in their own language and come to experience the love and goodness of Christ.
